For it is not the same river,

and you are not the same you.”

Welcome!

I’m a psychotherapist treating adults and adolescents in Massachusetts and Colorado. I have been in clinical practice for 8 years. You may enjoy working with me if:

  • You have tried working with therapists who spend most of their time listening, and you are looking for a more active and solution-focused approach

  • You are not afraid to be pushed

  • You prefer a balance of concrete, goal-oriented work and deeper identity-based work

  • You enjoy some mindfulness, breathing, and parts work - or are curious to learn about these!

I work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, family and relationship-based stressors, grief and loss, substance-use issues, and post-traumatic stress, to name just a few. I am a Certified Ecotherapist and am Level-3 trained in Internal Family Systems therapy. Prior to opening my practice I worked for a small group practice, and before that, in child and adolescent inpatient psychiatry in Massachusetts.

I currently live in Colorado with my wonderful wife Lydia. When not working, we are usually rock climbing or playing with our two cats, Rowan and Aster.

What some clients have said about our work together…

“If you are looking for a deeply engaged, thoughtful, dynamic therapist, Ari is the person you want. I came to Ari when I felt at a crossroads in my life, wanting to make positive changes and to find support in doing so. Ari helped establish trust and guided me through almost two years of difficult and productive personal work. He engages, steps back when necessary, allows for silences, and also jumps in to offer his perspective. He is a truly gifted therapist and I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a guide to find a way to live a life to which you can bring your best self.”

“Our teenage daughter has been working with Ari for a long time and we cannot be more grateful for his calm and generous spirit and his utmost professionalism. He is wise, funny, and patient—a winning combination for most teenagers and their anxious parents. In large part, we credit him for bringing our daughter back to us.”

“Ari is an active, intelligent and adaptable therapist. He has helped me see how different issues in my life interrelate.  I’ve grown so much since working with him, and it feels great to know he is in my corner.”
